The celebration of the 25th anniversary of GYCOM Ltd. took place on March 16, 2007 in the Home of Actors in Niznny Novgorod. Among the guests of the event were GYCOM employees, colleagues from the Institute of Applied Physics, GYCOM business partners, and many officials. The event program started with the film “At the front line of the possible” highlighting the achievements of GYCOM during the twenty-five years of its history. After the film, Academician Alexander Litvak, one of the founders of the enterprise, GYCOM President, IAP RAS Scientific Supervisor, addressed the audience. He recalled the difficult period in the history of Russia and the Russian science, and emphasized that in 1992, an enterprise going to produce gyrotron complexes was established in defiance of the arduous circumstances. Only due to the well-coordinated team work of GYCOM members it became a high-quality production company. Combined with the scientific potential of IAP RAS, after 25 years GYCOM has become a world leader in the field of high-power electronic devices. The most vivid success story mentioned by A. Litvak is manufacturing of gyrotrons for the ITER Project.
The program continued as officials and guests of GYCOM offered their congratulations. On behalf of the legislators, the company was congratulated by E.V. Lebedev, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, who emphasized the innovative effects of GYCOM Ltd for the entire oblast making everybody proud of the Russian science, ne noted that by creating a world-level enterprise, its founders “dispelled the doubts of those men of science, who thought that the transition to market economy would send the science in Russia to the background of history.” M.V. Cherkasov, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Entrepreneurship of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, congratulated GYCOM on behalf of the Governor and the executive branch of the oblast authorities. Congratulations were offered also by A.L. Ustinov, representative of ITER Agency (Moscow), A.V. Anosov, Deputy General Director of Nizhny Novgorod Association of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and many others. The celebration was finalized with a standing reception.
